Raising the Bird is a comic about a group of robots living in a futuristic world where humans are gone, and pets have become important status symbols for life.

In human religious belief, behaviors resembling those of “gods” are revered, and their words are treated as doctrine. Humanity, having already left Earth, has become the “god” of this robotic world—and the robots are, in a sense, human.

Like humans, being needed is the most important thing for these robots. Yet in a world where the “gods” are no longer present, most robots no longer feel that they are needed. To fill this absence, raising other creatures as pets—serving other forms of life—has become the dominant culture in robot society.
